:ACD/ChemSketch
ACD/ChemSketch software is an easy-to-use drawing program that allows you to draw chemical structures of organic molecules.
It can be used to calculate/predict molecular properties (e.g., molecular weight, density, logP etc.), generate/view 2D and 3D structures, and provide IUPAC names, among other things.
The freeware version of ChemSketch does not include all of the functionality of the commercial version.
Everything you do in Chemsketch can be copied into a word document, Once you get started you will find many other ways to use this program so have fun!
Installation Instructions
Locate the downloaded file.
It is likely located in the C:\Users\"YOUR NAME"\Downloads folder on your hard drive.
Unzip the file (right-click and choose 'Extract Here'), then double-click on the .exe file to begin installation. The ACD/Labs Software Web Setup Wizard appears.
Click Next.
Choose the option to accept the license agreement and click Next.
Clear any optional components that you do not wish to install (the installation of all components is recommended to provide access to the full capabilities of the software), then click Next.
Click Install.
Click Finish.
Each student should know how to:
Draw and clean structure.
Generate name.
Calculate molecular properties.
Copy and paste.
Draw reaction equation.
As an Educational Tool
ACD/Labs software aids in teaching key chemistry concepts to high school, undergraduate, and graduate chemistry students. In addition, students benefit from exposure in the learning environment to the same tools they will encounter in the workforce.
